Finkel's New Card Sideboard Staff Jon Finkel submitted a new Invitational card last weekend at Pro Tour Chicago. R&D was generally unhappy with his original submission -- Wrath of lekniF -- which was a 1UWW Wrath of God that also untaps four lands. R&D does not think it would be healthy to print a card that is significantly better than Wrath of God and asked Finkel for a new submission. Finkel actually submitted two version of his new card: Dark Elfkin 1UB 2/3 Whenever Dark Elfkin deals combat damage to an opponent, you draw a card. plus EITHER U: Dark Elfkin can't be the target of spells or abilities. B: Dark Elfkin can't be blocked except by black creatures and artifact creatures. OR Dark Elfkin can't be blocked except by black creatures and artifact creatures. He has suggested the same flavor text for either version of the card: "Unlike most scholars, the order of leknif learn best under cover of night." Finkel also suggested an art description: "A night-time scene with a gothic castle in the background. The foreground shows a wizard about to enter the castle. The bottom half of the wizard has already become invisible as a shadow begins to creep over the rest fo him." Finkel admitted that he thought the first version of the card was probably too strong and so the second version of the card is the one he considers more realistic.
